 | Whitby Jet Carved Mourning Necklace Ref: CAT960
An absolutely stunning Victorian Whitby Jet mourning necklace, circa 1860. This is an original item and an impressive statement piece.
The necklace has 8 graduated carved Whitby Jet panels linked with Whitby Jet links. The largest panel measures 6cm (2-1/2") across and each has a repeating flower carving. The bottom panel has a large Whitby jet drop suspended from it. The drop measures 6cm (2-1/2"), including the jet ring at the top.
The necklace is 62cm (24") long and has a black painted brass push in fastener.
This item is in excellent vintage condition. It was an expensive piece of jewellery when made, probably as a commissioned item for a rich widow or grieving mother/daughter. Check the additional pictures for more detail. More Pictures...

Whitby Jet Rose Carved Bead Necklace Ref: CAT898
RECENTLY ADDED! This classic Whitby Jet bead necklace made from rose carved beads from around 1860.
The necklace has 27 carved Whitby Jet beads strung on brass wire. The Whitby Jet beads are protected by smaller French Jet beads. It is 64cm (25") long and has a brass barrel fastener.
The largest bead is approximately 2cm (3/4") in diameter and the smallest approximately 1cm (3/8"). On very close inspection there is some cracking visible in the beads this is quite normal for Whitby Jet. More Pictures...

RECENTLY ADDED! A beautiful and original Victorian Whitby Jet mourning bracelet, circa 1860. This item is in impressive condition for its age and a beautiful piece of Victorian mourning jewellery.
The bracelet comprises of 12 faceted panels of alternating design. The largest panels measure 3cm (1-1/8") by 2cm (3/4") and are 1cm (3/8") thick. The bracelet has been restrung on new elastic. The internal circumference is 16cm (6-1/4") and it will fit most wrists.

Victorian Vulcanite Expanding Bracelet Ref: CAT786
A Victorian expanding bracelet made from Vulcanite, circa 1860.
The bracelet has a large oval centre panel measuring 4.8cm (1-3/4") by 3.5cm (1-3/8"). The rest of the bracelet is made up of plain polished sections strung on black elastic. The internal circumference of the bracelet is 16cm (6-1/4") but will expand comfortably beyond this size.
The original elastic has been replaced and the bracelet is in excellent condition with only very slight loss of colour. More Pictures...

Coiled Horn Snake Bangle Ref: CAT797
RECENTLY ADDED! A Victorian expanding snake bangle made from pressed horn, circa 1860.
The bangle has an engraved snake face with small white eyes. It springs open to go over the hand but these items are designed for slender wrists and this one measures 17.5cm around the inside (6-3/4"). They do expand but can be quite difficult to put on if you have large hands.
