An oval shaped Victorian Whitby Jet picture pendant with an engraved detail.
The pendant has a glazed compartment in the back that would have contained a photograph or lock of hair. The compartment is currently empty.
The pendant measures 2.3cm (1") in thickness and is 5cm (1-7/8") tall, excluding the metal ring, and 4.3cm (1-5/8") wide. The pendant is in very good vintage condition with just one small chip close to the inner border at the front and a surface crack on the rear face, which is probably due to a defect in the jet. This large pendant is a striking piece of mourning jewellery and looks stunning when worn. The pendant hangs from a japanned ring. The front is exquisitely engraved and the back is plain.

Victorian Vulcanite Flower Pendant Ref: CAT793
RECENTLY ADDED! This is a substantial Victorian Vulcanite pendant with vulcanite ring to attach a ribbon or chain.
The pendant has a large central rose surrounded by a border of acorns.
Vulcanite is made by mixing rubber and sulphur and heating it to form a durable black material. From 1846 onwards, vulcanite was used extensively to simulate Whitby Jet.
The pendant measures 7cm (2-3/4") by 4cm (1-1/2"), excluding the suspension ring, and is 2cm (3/4") thick. The pendant is in excellent condition with no significant loss of colour. More Pictures...

A small plain oval shaped Victorian Vulcanite locket.
The locket has a plain polished front and back but the inside is beautifully detailed. The compartments are currently empty and there are no windows.

RECENTLY ADDED! This is a good sized Victorian Vulcanite cross pendant with vulcanite ring to attach a ribbon or chain.

 | Vintage Bakelite Cross Pendant Ref: CAT573
This is a Vintage cross pendant with raised brass detail.
This pendant is made from Bakelite which is an early plastic. It is rather crude in execution but this makes it quite a charming piece of mock gothic jewellery.
The pendant measures 8.5cm (3-1/4") by 5cm (2"), excluding the suspension ring, and is 4mm (1/4") thick. The pendant has been re-polished and has a good black colour. The only real 'defect' is that the central brass detail is set at a slight angle. This was certainly a manufacturing defect as the brass does not seem to have been reattached. There is also a small surface chip on the back of the pendant, which is only mentioned for completeness. More Pictures...
